Succession planning, or talent development, is the process that enables your organization to identify internal talented employees who have the potential to be promoted and assume broader responsibilities. Succession planning , or”building bench strength”, works best when the organization takes a planned approach to talent development that incorporates diverse methodologies.   A sampling of these methodologies might include building functional knowledge, leadership experiences and workshops, coaching, short-term challenging assignments and on the job skill building.
